Job Opening: Temporary Instructional Librarian
Location: Calgary, AB, CANADA
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The SAIT library has an opening for a temporary, full-time librarian to provide library-related instruction at SAIT. Responsibilities would include teaching in the Libraries’ information literacy instruction program and introductory instruction activities, provide general reference services, and participate in collection responsibilities.
As an instructional librarian, this person should have strong leadership skills and enjoy working with students and staff. The instructional team works closely together and collaborates on teaching initiatives. This person would also work collaboratively with the other librarians on projects concerning services, systems, collections, technology, and leadership at the SAIT Library.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership in a team environment as part of the librarian duties in the SAIT library.
Provide library instruction as part of the SAIT library instructional team.
Participate in selecting collection resources and analyzing their use.
Assist our staff and students at our information desk.
Ability to lead staff in both individual and team projects.
Ability to develop, deliver and assess applicable instruction for library users and stakeholders.
Demonstrate excellent leadership skills including the ability to foster trusting, productive relationships amongst staff.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Understanding of web-related issues and how these challenges relate to the library website.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
The Successful Candidate must have the following in their resume:
Masters of Library Science.
Some library or customer service experience.
A recent graduate will be considered for this position as long as the person is willing and has an aptitude for teaching.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Successful candidates must provide proof of qualifications. Only education obtained from an accredited institution will be recognized.
