Job Opening: Instrumentation & Controls Designer/Checker
Location: Calgary, AB, CANADA; Edmonton, AB, CANADA

Senior to Lead Instrumentation and Controls Designers/Checkers
Lead Instrumentation & Controls Designers/Checkers

    Gathering information, making studies, performing calculations and preparing original rough layouts and sketches to present design proposals;
    Coordinating design criteria with engineering, tooling, material, and planning group in accordance with contractual specifications.

Senior Instrumentation & Controls Designers/Checkers

    Ensuring conformity with project scope, specifications, standards, drawings and other.
    Collecting all necessary and the latest information to start the drawings;
    Drafting and developing Controls system studies and layouts;
    Drafting clear and complete Controls system drawings;
    Ensuring all drawings and materials are in accordance with specifications and standards, including applicable codes and regulations;
    Ensuring all drawings are in agreement with the latest vendor print;
    Reviewing vendor and in-house coordination drawings to ensure their compliance with related project requirements;
    Preparing Bills of Material;
    Guiding other levels of  drafting personnel assigned to their area on projects; and
    Visiting construction sites and fabrication shops as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Diploma in Instrumentation and Controls Engineering Technology from a recognized technical institute;
Minimum of  8 - 10 years of prior related work experience in drafting and/or design;
Related coursework and past experience as Design Lead on large projects;
Experience with Intools and 3D modeling with PDS;
Experience with instrumentation installation, location design, junction box, marshalling and control room layout;
Experience in fire and gas design;
Experience with MTO's and estimation;
Experience in the Engineering, Procurement and Construction industry;
Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills;
Strong organizational, planning and time management skills; and
Excellent Writing and Oral Communication skills.
