Job Opening: Senior Network Specialist - Break Fix/Troubleshooting
Location: Calgary, AB, CANADA
Our client is searching for a Senior Network Specialist - Break Fix / Troubleshooting.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be responsible for break fix, trouble shooting, design, planning, Tier 3 support, maintenance, upgrades and problem resolution to network equipment and infrastructure for our large complex customers. You will work with a team to plan and deliver customized network management / solutions to our clients. You will possess a strong customer focus with the ability to diagnose complex network problems and interface with clients and vendors for problem resolution.
Education & Experience:
- MINIMUM CCNP/CCDP designation or equivalent experience 5+ years experience in design and support of networks. CCIE would be nice to have.
- MINIMUM 4+ years of experience in design of data communications networks involving IP, ATM switching, and Private Line Frame Relay.
- Knowledge of LAN/WAN environments, protocols, and equipment (hubs, routers, and LAN switches).
- Familiarity with network maintenance and acceptance procedures in a service provider environment.
- Eligibility or membership in a professional designation.
- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Telecom Technology.
Core Competencies -
FUNCTIONAL:
.Layer 2/3 expertise with CISCO equipment (routing, switching)
.ALCATEL ATM.
.Network Sniffers and protocol analyzers, network troubleshooting.
.Network Management Systems including HP Openview, Cisco Works, and Spectrum Analyzer.
.Dynamic Routing/Bridging Protocols: HDLC, PPP, xDSL, SNMP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, RIP.
.Juniper ERX, M20, M40, DSLAMs,
.A comprehensive understanding of VoIP Cisco Call Manager
.Private Line and PBX services.
.In depth knowledge of key network hardware and associated software (routers, switches, DNS, DHCP and firewalls)
.Comprehensive understanding of cabling types, manufacturing, configuration and troubleshooting
.Knowledge of DHCP, WINS and DNS on NT and UNIX platforms is an asset
.A proven working ability and excellent understanding of major Network Operating Systems
