Job Opening: Senior Project Manager (Underground Stations)

Job Descriptions:
MMM is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Project Development and Management Department. You will work from a dedicated project site in the Greater Toronto Area reporting to the Chief Project Manager on-site. This position will be responsible for managing multiple project management teams for the full life-cycle of projects for the construction of the underground sections of transit project (including stations).
Job Responsibilities:
· Prepare resource plans for projects, coordinate staffing, and organize project teams to ensure the work is carried out cost effectively and to specification;
· Manage the development of project scopes of work and requests for proposals, and participate in procuring design consultants and construction contractors;
· Manage project scheduling, budget monitoring and cost reporting for the projects; ensure problems relating to project tasks are addressed; monitor project tasks for progressing effectively against the project plan requirements and milestones, and take appropriate action to minimize the impact of deviations; and ensure the quality of project deliverables and manage quality issues;
· Responsible for providing leadership in overseeing the work of Department staff (either directly or through direct reports) ensuring that accessibility/accommodation needs of TTC passengers and/or employees are effectively met in a timely fashion in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer;
· Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
· A university degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Engineering, Construction Project Management, Architecture, etc.), or the equivalent, combined with solid project management experience, preferably for large, complex transit projects.
· Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, or possession of a similar professional accreditation in Ontario is required. PMP certification is an asset.
· A sound knowledge of current engineering and construction principles, methods and practices combined with a thorough knowledge of project management principles and practices
· A well-developed knowledge of engineering design methodology principles and practice, construction methodology principles and practice, construction contract law, contract administration and construction inspection, as well as pertinent Acts and Regulations.
· Extensive cut-and-cover design and construction experience with particular emphasis on support of excavation methods in densely built-up urban areas. Bored tunnel design and construction experience is advantageous.
· Requires sound knowledge of business administration, fiscal and human resources policies, and legislation/regulations regarding safety, employment, etc.
· You must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
· Must possess sound judgement; highly developed planning, organization and management skills; effective analytical, problem solving and decision making abilities to manage complex issues.
· Must be team oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills. You are computer literate with knowledge of project management tools, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
