Job Opening: Senior Development Officer - Sponsorship & Major Gifts
Location: Calgary, AB, CANADA
This position is an integral part of the fundraising team, reporting to the Associate Director of Major Gifts, joining forces with a six person major gifts team and a forty person Alumni & Development department.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sponsorship
· Represent SAIT Polytechnic as the primary contact for sponsorship opportunities. Identify new sponsorship prospects, cultivating positive relationships for current and future partnerships.
· Develop and implement strategies for:
o Sponsorship
o Trades & Technology Grand Opening
o Affinity programs
o Alumni magazine advertising
· Develop and maintain an ongoing inventory of assets and benefits including updating the values and hard costs for these opportunities regularly.
· Develop and deliver customized proposals based on the needs and interests of the sponsor/partner/advertiser and SAIT
· Identify and make calls on key prospects to sell SAIT sponsorship opportunities.
· Ensure the fulfillment, activation, measurement and stewardship for each sponsor of each SAIT initiative. Implement measurement tools to ensure profitable ROI is delivered to all partners and SAIT.
· Cultivate and maintain positive sponsor relationships, in conjunction with Senior Development Officers and with all SAIT Departments, providing guidance and counseling on sponsorships for these departments.
· Attend SAIT events and public events as appropriate.
Major Gifts
· Manage a complementary portfolio of 75+ major gift prospects, securing major and corporate gifts over $25,000.
· Actively lead and participate in calls on key prospects.
· Cultivate, support, communicate and manage leadership volunteers assigned to the development process.
· Manage and supervise the implementation of appropriate donor recognition and stewardship strategies, policies and procedures, for accounts within portfolio.
· Direct the preparation of research to support key accounts within portfolio and participate in prospect identification and evaluation of prospects.
· Participate in planning and implementation of fundraising campaigns.

· Highly developed ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong business sense, and well-developed sales skills.
· Ability to package and sell sponsorship opportunities at a senior level.
· Knowledge of various segments of the business community in Calgary and a deep understanding of corporate practices and motivations for promotional activities.
· Exhibit professionalism and sound judgment
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
· Three to five years experience in sales, sponsorship and/or major gifts fundraising.
· Post-secondary education in business, marketing, communications or related field.
· Proven track-record in fundraising with some experience in post secondary fundraising would be desirable.
· Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation and member in good standing of Association of Fundraising Professionals desirable.
· Drivers license and own vehicle.
· Ability to travel and to conduct evening and weekend work is expected.
