Job Opening: Network Technical Specialist
Location: Toronto, ON, CANADA

Job Summary

This position is integral to the successful functioning of the OACCAC IT Services team

Job Responsibilities:

Operations
Coordinate the delivery of networking and security products into the production
environment; build and deploy LAN/WAN components into the QA/Test/Production
environments
Select, deploy, monitor, and maintain firewall and other security technologies
Detect, troubleshoot, and repair any network or security issues
Respond to planned and unplanned outages
Understanding of Wireless environment
Strong understanding of McAfee products, especially EEPC is an asset.

Monitoring
Monitor the daily key parameters of the operating environment, including LAN/WAN components. These include, but are not limited to, overall system response; loss of network component due to failure; saturated network or network segments; and, connectivity firewalls, routers, and switches.

Switch/Firewall Management
Perform advance switch configuration tasks and setting changes; manage switch ports Maintain Firewalls across Ontario from a central console using Checkpoint Smart Center; pushing firewall policies and determine the risk level associated with changes

McAfee ePO
Have a strong understanding of McAfee products and ePO Server, including VSE, RSD, EEPC, Agent Handler, AntiSpyware, etc.

Job Qualifications:

    Post secondary education in IT, Computer Science, or relevant field
    Minimum 5 years relevant work experience; experience working in large complex distributed environments required
    Checkpoint training required and certification preferred; Other industry standards such as ITIL and CompTIA an asset
    Detailed knowledge of Check Point network architecture and solutions required
    Understanding of current enterprise related security issues as well as methods and products for addressing issues
    Functional understanding of inter-relationships of various components of an IT infrastructure, including but not limited to, server systems; network technology; operational knowledge of application tools; and, information security
    Ability to project plan and deliver based on requirements provided
    Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communications skills
    Good analytical and problem solving skills
    Knowledge of VoIP implementation and Mitel technology an important asset.
    Must be able to work in a fast paced and diverse environment
    Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities

Job Conditions:

    Fast paced environment with multiple priorities
    Occasional travel within Ontario on an as required basis
    Flexibility to provide On-Call support during non-business hours as required
    Must be able to work shifts on a rotational basis (7 a.m. - 3 p.m.; 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.; 10:00 a.m. - 6 p.m.)
