Our client is looking for an Int. Network Technician in Calgary.

Job Responsibilities:

This position, as a key player in a team of professionals, is responsible for implementation, problem resolution, maintenance and upgrades to data and voice network equipment and procedures. In order to be successful you need strong customer focus with the ability to diagnose complex networking issues and interface with clients and vendors for problem resolution.

The Challenge - Key Objectives/Deliverables in 1st 12 Months:


Provide Assistance to Senior Project resources to:

- Implement and configure of all network components (including Data Center and Closet Cabling) of the Client's Local area networks.
- Perform regular changes and maintenance of the diverse set of Cisco/Nortel/Avaya equipment in the Client's network according to rigorous change control procedures.
- Continually strive to reduce customer-impacting outages/degradation.
- Some Pre-staging hardware
- Minor design
- Physical installs of routers and switches


Job Required Knowledge:

- Comprehensive knowledge of key network hardware and associated software (transceivers, repeaters, hubs, bridges, routers, switches, gateways, firewalls).
- Good understanding of major Network Operating Systems.


Job Required Skills & Abilities:

- Ability to work with a team to plan and deliver customized network management to meet customer and business needs.
- You will potentially also have the ability to work in network projects from design to implementation.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate technical and operational requirements and issues to an audience with a broad range of backgrounds and levels of responsibility.
- Strong administration and planning skills.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


Job Required Professional Designation/Certification:

- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Telecom or Information Technology (or equivalent combination of experience and education).
- The ideal candidate will have a a CCNA or CCNP

Job Required Experience:
- 2+ years experience with Nortel/Avaya or Cisco network implementation and configuration.
- Network Technician Certification (or equivalent combination of experience and education).
- CCNA minimum
