Organization Summary:
The Technology Services organization is responsible for providing operations and technical support services to meet the service requirements of the business for Great-West Life, London Life, and Investors Group. Technology Services ensures that platforms, networks, business objects and applications of the infrastructure are available and operating to specified/planned levels of performance and support. That includes problem assistance and resolution through the Service Desk and Second Level Technical Support; operations and management of computing systems; technical support of mainframe , client/server, voice, and LAN/WAN infrastructure; service delivery and coordination; and ongoing technology training to our Business Partners.
The Server Technical Specialist role reports to the Team Lead Server Support, and is responsible for providing 7x24 hr support and consultation in the server environment for specific sites.
Position Overview:
The Server Support Technical Specialist (SAP) will provide support for the enterprise SAP environments, performing second level support and acting as a resource for technical infrastructure and application deployment projects. Typical support activities include, but are not limited to, troubleshooting SAP application issues, patching and maintaining the current SAP environment including the AIX hosting servers, and working with project teams to configure and deploy new SAP related solutions.
Job Responsibilities:
2nd Level 7 x 24 on-call SAP support responding to and resolving incidents referred by the Service Desk, automated processes (paging), business clients, vendors, and other 2nd level support teams
Working with Service Delivery and Change Management to ensure smooth implementation of new/upgraded open systems infrastructure
SAP Software installation and upgrade support
Development and implementation of database backup, recovery and disaster recovery processes and procedures
Participation in periodic disaster recovery exercises
Consulting on SAP related matters and issues with a wide audience including Systems Architects, Project Managers, Account and Delivery Management and Application Support staff
Participation as SAP technical specialist in project development cycle
Participation in transition to production process ensuring relevant documentation and orientation is supplied to Technology Support areas
Managing and monitoring SAP/Oracle database performance to ensure service level expectations are maintained
Identifying resource utilization trends and recommending options for addressing capacity issues in order to meet business requirements and service level agreements
Qualifications and Competencies:
Job Requirements:
SAP
BASIS ( Netweaver 2004S, ABAP and JAVA stacks ) skills including system installation and upgrade skills, SAP performance tuning skills, networking skills, hardware and software knowledge
Demonstrated experience with Oracle 10g and Unix/AIX
Minimum of 5 years experience in an information technology environment required
Ability to use office productivity tools
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively to a non-technical audience
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
Demonstrated knowledge of I.S. processes and procedures including change and incident management
Assets:
Demonstrated experience with SAP ECC 6.0
Demonstrated experience with SAP Solution Manager 4.0 tools.
Demonstrated experience with SAP BI 7.00
Demonstrated experience with SAP HR
Demonstrated experience with SAP Enterprise Portal
