Job Details

The Industrial Buildings Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide technical expertise within Tetra Tech’s Infrastructure & Environmental Division. This position is based in the Winnipeg office for project work throughout Western Canada. The role includes design and engineering of air systems, piping, plumbing, and all elements related to the mechanical components of buildings and process equipment utilities. The Industrial Buildings Group has a strong focus on the food & beverage and transportation sectors, as well as pharmaceutical and light to medium industrial.

Job Responsibilities:

- Provide conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design and engineering for mechanical building systems and process equipment for industrial projects.
- Provide consulting services to aid clients on best value of design options.
- Participate as a member of the project team to deliver an integrated building design.
- Inspect and review installations to ensure conformance with mechanical design.

Job Requirements:

- Mechanical Engineering degree plus 4 to 7 years of experience, ideally in the design of industrial or commercial mechanical systems.
- Professional Engineer in Manitoba, or eligible for registration.
- Knowledge of mechanical building services requirements, including HVAC and plumbing.
- Knowledge of process piping design, including piping stress analysis.
- Familiarity with applicable codes and regulations.
- Good communication skills and good writing skills, with a strong willingness to interact with members of the design team.
- Able to coach and mentor others.
- Demonstrated skills for research and application of new information into design work.
- Knowledge of the food and beverage industry and hygienic facility design would be considered an asset.
- Experience with computer software for mechanical systems design would be considered an asset.
- Must be able and willing to travel for short durations as needed.
