Job Opening: Project Engineer
Location: Calgary, AB, Canada

Overview:

Contribute to the success of our client's operation by working closely with site based Plant Engineers to provide guidance, leadership and direction in a project engineering role. You will work closely with our Plant Engineer(s) and our Operations, Maintenance and Construction teams to execute site based projects (live plant).

As a Project Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring the site projects are executed in adherence to all applicable codes and standards. You will work with the Plant Engineer(s) to scope and initiate projects, facilitate the Plant Management of Change process, acquire project approvals, coordinate engineering support, monitor project budget and schedule, facilitate project planning and coordination, and work with Operations Construction to ensure execution and start-up of assigned projects as well as the close out of the projects.

Job Responsibilities:


- Work with Plant Engineer(s) and possibly third party engineering consulting firm(s) as a company representative during the project planning, engineering, procurement, and construction phases, commissioning and start-up phase.
- Work with Calgary based Project Engineers to facilitate field execution of Calgary based projects.
- Proactively monitor cost and schedule against deliverables for the various site projects and work to resolve any delays or progress issues.
- Participate in design reviews and project meetings as required.
- Ensure all activities comply with regulatory, safety, and environmental policies, procedures and approvals and also all the internal permits are in place.
- Assist in project planning and making key decisions.
- Troubleshoot and solve a variety of technical and constructability issues.
- Manage interfaces between engineering and construction, procurement and operations and provide support where necessary.
- Assist in project approval and Management of Change process.
- Produce internal documentation to support project work including project updates, schedule reviews and forecasts.

Job Requirements:


- Bachelor or Master's degree in Engineering from an accredited university
- Eligibility for membership in APEGGA
- 5+ years engineering experience; field experience an asset
- Familiar with AMSE Section VIII, B31.3, CSA Z662, ERCB Rules, Regulations and Requirements.
- Excellent scheduling and organizational skills.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Self-motivated individual with ability to work within a TEAM environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
