Job Opening: SENIOR FINANCIAL and TAX ACCOUNTANT
Location: Calgary, AB, CANADA

THE OPPORTUNITY
As a result of recent and forecast growth, we are adding a new member to our Calgary-based Finance team. A self-motivated and skilled Senior Financial and Tax Accountant, this role reports to the Vice President, Finance and, along with two other senior accountants, will be responsible for providing financial and tax analysis and reporting.
This will include compiling and analyzing month-end management financial and tax reporting packages and preparing month-end, quarter-end and year-end working papers, and consolidated financial and tax reports. Additionally, this individual will seek ways to improve processes and reporting efficiencies and provide input on reporting, planning and budgeting.

Job Responsibilities:

With an emphasis on financial analysis and reporting and tax preparation and management, key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
·preparing financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules;
·preparation of federal and provincial corporate tax returns, managing correspondence with taxation authorities and overseeing payment of all tax liabilities;
·development, analysis and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability and performance against budget;
·collaborating with staff in the Accounting and Payroll departments;
·furnishing internal reports, revising and updating reports to be more useful and effective and preparing external reports as required;

Job Requirements:

·a minimum of four to five years' professional accounting experience coupled with a professional accounting designation (CA, CMA or CGA);
·strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting procedures, including demonstrated experience in interpretation, application and implementation;
·solid knowledge of Canadian corporate income tax, both federal and provincial, and use of Tax Prep software;
·exposure to working paper preparation;
·strong communication skills and a team-oriented work ethic;
·advanced computer skills including accounting systems, spreadsheets and word processing software; and,
·solid organizational skills and the ability to manage several projects concurrently.
