Fire Protection Engineer


The successful applicant will coordinate and conduct building plan reviews, interpret the building code, develop code equivalencies, prepare building design reports and coordinate with fire protection engineering teams on development of equivalencies. The candidate will be responsible for the review and implementation of fire protection strategies and will coordinate on all matters with the design team and authorities having jurisdiction.

Job Qualifications:

· Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferred Fire Protection Engineering), or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
· Diploma in Architectural or Engineering Technology with a minimum of 3 years experience working as a building code consultant or related field;
· Knowledge of local and national building and fire codes;
· A strong understanding of fire protection engineering principals;
· Experience in developing building code concepts, equivalencies, conducting building plan reviews and field reviews;
· The ability to work well independently and to interact with other industry professionals, associated trades and industry authorities;
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in the English language

Additional experience in developing performance-based analyses, fire modelling, and egress analysis would be an asset.
