Job Opening: GIS Analyst - Intermediate
Location: Calgary, AB, CANADA
Our E & P client, located in the downtown Calgary area, is looking for a Geo - Information Analyst. The incumbent will be responsible for all client interfaces within the assigned account scope.
SUMMARY
- Manage spatial data for one or a number of business project teams.
- Utilize GIS applications and tools for spatial manipulation and analysis.

Accountabilities
- Manage spatial data specific to the project team
- Ensure that project data is attributed with proper metadata; published appropriately to data stores and is geodetically sound.
- Utilize the ArcGIS Desktop suite to analyze spatial relationships between data
- Present the data and the results of the analyses in the form of maps, charts, graphs, or web services
- Identify, create, and improve workflows dealing with spatial data exchanges
Job Responsibilities:
- Influences budget decisions through recommendations of data, software purchases, and evaluations of new hardware.
- Ensure alignment and standardization of workflows within the organization
- Support the project team with regards to geo-spatial data, cartographic standards, and geodetics.
- Must be familiar with industry standard mapping practices in Western Canada.
- Provides guidance to the users with regards to GIS resources available. (ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server, external data web services)
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a recognized university, in Geomatics or in a directly-related subject area.
- A thorough understanding of mapping and cartographic principles
- An understanding of the E&P business and where GIS and Geo-Information impacts business decisions.
- Experience with GIS applications and tools
- A thorough knowledge of geodetic issues and coordinate reference systems and the associated transformations typically carried out on spatial data.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to recommend solutions for the hardware, software, and workflows necessary to deliver timely solutions for the business.
- Knowledge of common scripting languages and geoprocessing libraries.
